Serial thieves busted

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Aug. 7 at 8:46 p.m., officers responded to a report of retail fraud in the 6300 block of S. Saginaw Road. Upon arrival, loss prevention said two males, later identified as a 27-year-old from Flint and a 29-year-old from Linden had been observed on video that day and the day before making off with multiple items of clothing by Nike and Under Armour, valued at more than $500. The second day a radio report of a retail fraud helped identify the subjects at which point officers were able to obtain information as to where they lived. Although the subjects weren’t at home, they were then arrested later by Metro Police officers and are pending warrants for multiple counts of retail fraud while being lodged at the Flint City Jail. — P.S.

Drugs and driving don’t mix

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Aug. 12 at 3:13 a.m., officers on patrol observed a 19-yearold River Rouge male on northbound I-75 at Holly Road during routine traffic patrol. Officers clocked the driver at 87 miles per hour in a 70 zone and also randomly traveling between lanes. A traffic stop was initiated and when speaking with the male, the officer noted a cigarette lighter and loose, leafy green substance in the suspects lap. He said he was doing 80 mph and when asked about the marijuana, said he didn’t have any and when it was pointed out to him, he said it was “from yesterday”. He had no medical marijuana card and failed field sobriety tests. When asked if he had just used marijuana or had been drinking, he said ‘just marijuana’. He was arrested for speeding, possession of a controlled substance and a blood draw was ordered and he is pending possible Operating Under the Influence of Drug charges at the Flint City Jail. — P.S.

Tinted windows nets marijuana seizure

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Aug. 12 at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers on routine patrol in the were called to the 1000 of E. Hill Road observed a Pontiac Grand Prix with excessively tinted windows and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the 20-yearold Flint Township driver, they found he had a suspended license and was asked to exit the vehicle to be placed under arrest for Driving Without a License—Suspended (DWLS) and at that time a plastic bag fell to the ground. When he was secure, officer retrieved the bag and found it to contain .95 grams suspected marijuana. The male denied having a medical marijuana card and he is facing charges of Possession of Controlled Substance and DWLS while lodging at the Flint City Jail. — P.S.
