Goodrich girls down Lapeer

Photo by Brandon Pope GOODRICH – The Goodrich girls’ basketball team improved to 6-1 on the season after beating Lapeer 51-38 in a non-league contest on Tuesday. The Lady Martians took the lead in the first and held it the entire game.

Goodrich led 14-4 after the opening quarter and extended its lead to 22-14 by halftime. Goodrich kept the game rolling in the second half, outscoring Lapeer 12-10 in the third and 17-14 in the fourth to take the win.

Diamond Pate and Ryan Darby put up 15 points each and Maddie Voelker added 14. Pate and Voelker also pulled down eight rebounds apiece. For Lapeer, Hannah Erla led with 13 points.

Goodrich is at Lake Fenton on Friday and hosts Freeland on Tuesday. – K.R.
