Bobcats beat Bay City John Glenn in volleyball

Photo by Timothy Mucciante GRAND BLANC – The Grand Blanc volleyball team opened the season at home on Tuesday, defeating Bay City John Glenn 25-13, 25-14, 25-4. Stand out players of the night were Hannah Carnell, Juliana Dunning and Elizabeth Cheswick. Player stats were not available as we went to press Wednesday morning. The team is using a software program that takes 24 hours to go live.

“The girls were on top of their game tonight heading into their first home match of the season,” said Grand Blanc coach Karly Cocke.

GOODRICH: The Martians competed at the six-team Cros-Lex tournament on Sept. 1 advancing through to the semis before losing to host Cros-Lex 25-18, 22-25, 9-25. Kristen Danz had 56 kills, Ellie Foglio had 30, Kristin Jankowski had 27 and Olivia Francis had 25. Emily Lafner had 14 aces, Maddison Haring had nine and Francis and Jankowski had seven apiece. E. Lafner had 28 blocks, A. Lafner had 26 and Danz had 23. Savannah Leist led in digs with 106 and E. Lafner had 84. Jankowski had 191 assists and Anna Boomer had 44. E. Lafner had 135 serve receives, Leist had 113 and Francis had 66.

Other scores on the day includes winning against Brown City 25-15, 25-17, losing to Stoney Creek 25-21, 25-11, winning against Unionville Sebewaing 2513, 25-21 and beating Linden 25-23, 25-19.

Goodrich is at the Flushing tournament Saturday. – L.P.
