Goodrich, Grand Blanc theatre offerings now open

GRAND BLANC/GOODRICH — Goodrich High School Theatre will be presenting two well known one-act plays, both of which describe the horrors of the Holocaust: I Never Saw Another Butterfly, by Celeste Respanti and The Actor’s Nightmare by Christopher Durang. Production dates are April 20, 21 and 22 at 7:00 p.m. and April 23 at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $8 for reserved seating, which can be purchased at the box office at performance time, or reserved in advance by calling 810-591- 2220.

Both productions continue the tradition of excellent high school theatre production value, but feature the work of student leaders as stage directors, scenery, lighting, costume, and sound designers on multiple levels.

I Never Saw Another Butterfly is being directing by Steven A. Mitchell and Goodrich HS Senior, Megan Manarino, is directing The Actor’s Nightmare. A cast and production staff of over 60 students are involved in the production which includes five students who attend Goodrich Middle School and will be portraying children in I Never Saw Another Butterfly.

Grand Blanc High School will present the Tony Nominated Broadway musical Footloose, April 20, 21 and 22 at 7:00 p.m. and April 22 also at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $12.00 for General Admission and Adults, and $8.00 for students and senior citizens. Tickets can be reserved in advance by calling the Grand Blanc HS main office at 810-591-6634 or may be purchased at the door at performance time.

Footloose is set in 1985, and features the story of Ren McCormack, a teenager who finds himself at odds with a small town and their moral objections to dancing. Ren convinces them to overcome the dancing restriction and in the process helps the town to heal from a tragedy that affected them all.
