Roast on the menu for Abdella retirement

GRAND BLANC — Always humble and giving, Grand Blanc school District Superintendent Dr. Norm Abdella had a hard time agreeing to the retirement party his staff demanded, but finally gave in he said, if it was for charity.

So on June 17, a host of people who care for the outgoing Superintendent will gather for a dinner which will provide $10 per guest for the FISH food pantry which supports local families in need.

Abdella’s replacement and butt of jokes via his long tenure in the district himself, Clarence Garner will be the Emcee as family, co-workers, and friends. The event cost is $30 per person and Abdella will not accept any personal retirement gifts according to his office.

The event will be held at The Jewel of Grand Blanc, 5270 Perry Rd., on Friday, June 17th, with a reception (cash bar) starting at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:00 and the roast to follow. RSVP and tickets can be purchased ($30) by emailing Mary Love at mlove@grandblancschools.org or stop by the high school at 11920 S Saginaw Street (west campus), checks to be made payable to Grand Blanc Schools. — Compiled by Paula Kay Schmidt
