GRAND BLANC — The City of Grand Blanc Police Department manages a lot of things, but rarely is one of those things a corpse.

A man walking his dog found the body in the Commons Park, which consists of 137.5 acres, located behind the McFarlen Library.

The badly decomposed body was found hanging from a tree and it’s believed it may have been hidden for some time because of tree leaves, which have now fallen. The Commons Park has many trails, but the body was found in a portion of the nature area where people don’t normally travel.

Forensics experts have been called in to assist in determining the vital details of the death, as well as the identity. There is a tattoo that may be of assistance. A quick search of the National Missing and Unidentified Missing Persons Systems database did not reveal any likely matches.

“The only identifying mark on the body was a colorful tattoo on the right bicep/tricep area, of a unicorn. That’s the only identifying mark we have at this time and we’re hoping that somebody might know who it is based on that tattoo,” said Det. Bryan Byarski, of the Grand Blanc Police Department.

The initial responding officer was John Strom of the Township Police Department. Residents who may have additional information should contact the Grand Blanc Police Department at 810-694-1111.
