Grand Blanc ski sweeps Boyne City Invite

BOYNE FALLS — A trip to Boyne Mountain on Feb. 2 proved fruitful for the Grand Blanc ski teams, as the squads swept the field winning the girls’ and boys’ titles.

The boys’ team won with 43 points with Jake Martin in first place in Giant Slalom and fourth in Slalom, Mitchell Walker was second in Giant Slalom and fifth in Slalom and Andrew Morgan was third in Giant Slalom and sixth in Slalom. Jake Ford was 11th in Giant Slalom and Teddy Foote 11th in Slalom.

The girls’ squad was first overall with 57 points after tying with Rochester Adams. The fifth racer, Maddy Prokott and Marta Werbanowska clinched the victory. The top finishers for the girls were Amanda Ulrich, Madeline Brown, Megan Prokott, Alexa Foote, Olivia Velarde, Maddy Prokott and Marta Werbanowska.

Next week we report on the Kensington Lakes Activities Association title won on Feb. 4 by the boys’ varsity, and the following week, regionals that took place Feb. 8-9.
