Scout talks about benefits of recycling program

My name is David Clegg. I am a Boy Scout in Troop 368. I live in Grand Blanc Township. I am working on my Communications Merit Badge. One of the requirements is to write a letter or e-mail to the editor of my local paper to express my opinion on something that I feel strongly about. I would like to tell you how I feel about our recycling program.

I like the curbside recycling. My family uses the blue tub every week. I also like that we have two times a year that we can recycle hazardous materials. I also like the fact that we have the opportunity to recycle paper in school.

I would like it if we could recycle batteries more than once a year. I know that we can bring our batteries down to the township hall. But I don’t think everyone knows about this. Maybe it could be something you put in the newspaper. My dad says that we can bring pop can tabs in to the township hall to help get free minutes on a dialysis machine. — David Clegg, Grand Blanc Township
