Police Blotter Suspect in string of B&E’s in custody GRAND BLANC TWP. — Police have arrested Teddie Houck in connection with a series of breaking and entering crimes throughout the county. City of Flint police made the arrest on Feb. 10 near the corner of Fenton and Pettibone streets. Houck, 37 of Fenton, is suspecting of committing approximately 10 breaking and entering incidents within Grand Blanc Township as well as a number of others in multiple jurisdictions. The first report in the township was made on Jan. 10 when three homes on McCandlish Road reported items such as two riding lawn mowers and a tanning bed missing from their homes. In total, police estimate more than $20,000 in items were stolen out of homes in the township. Detroit man steals, flees police GRAND BLANC TWP. — A 67-year-old Detroit man was arrested for receiving and concealing stolen property and resisting and obstructing after fleeing police custody on Feb. 13. The man, driving a 2005 Chevy Silverado, was stopped by police at 12:49 a.m. near I-75 and Holly Road for defective equipment. Upon pulling over, the man ran from police into a ditch filled with three feet of water before climbing a wire fence. Police were able to track the man’s footprints and found him in a field laying on his stomach. Police contacted a trooper in West Branch who confirmed the vehicle was stolen from a local dealership in the area. Inside the vehicle, police found five stolen ice hoggers valued at $309 each, a $100 stolen power washer and two stolen generators, one priced at $325 and the other at $418. Police from Arenac County in Standish confirmed the items had been stolen out of a storage unit. The man was lodged at the Genesee County Jail. Man kicks out cruiser window, arrested for drugs GRAND BLANC TWP. — A Roseville man was arrested for possession of heroin and marijuana, resisting and obstructing and damage of property after kicking out the window of a police cruiser. Officers investigating a call of a suspicious man posing as a Consumer’s Energy worker on Feb. 11 at 8:05 p.m. in the Knollwood Apartment complex spotted the 19-year-old man and his girlfriend in the parking lot before both ran from police and into a black 2004 Chevy Cavalier. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers noted a strong odor of marijuana and asked the couple to exit the vehicle. The man refused to exit the vehicle and was removed by police and placed in handcuffs. In the man’s coat pocket, police found a plastic bag containing 8.10 grams of marijuana. The girlfriend told police she lived in the complex and gave police consent to search her apartment where police found three bags containing 24.92 grams of marijuana and 2.34 grams of heroin in the freezer. The man began banging his head on the police cruiser window before kicking out the rear driver’s side window of the cruiser. The man was lodged at the Genesee County Jail. Man charged with OUID GRAND BLANC TWP. — A 21-year-old Vassar man was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs after failing sobriety tests. Police were dispatched to I-75 and I-475 at 7:20 p.m. on Feb. 4 after reports of a black 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix driving all over the road were made by multiple drivers. An officer in the area observed the car drive over the rumble strips and fog line before breaking hard and veering back into the lane. The officer stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver who attempted to roll his passenger side window down with the radio controls. Unable to open the window, the officer opened the passenger side door and noted the driver’s speech was slurred and the man seemed confused. The man told police he was driving all over the road because he was texting and calling his girlfriend. The man was given a field sobriety test in which he failed after being unsteady on his feet and having difficulty keeping his eyes open. The officer found injection scars on both of the man’s hands and during a head to toe test, a plastic bag containing heroin fell out of his pants. According to the police report, the man admitted to concealing drugs in his rectum. Police also found xanax and symboxyn on the man. The man told police earlier he had used heroin, codeine, xanax and cocaine.
