Men arrested for carrying concealed weapon

GRAND BLANC TWP. — A Flint man was arrested for drunk driving while another man was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon after the two were stopped for a traffic violation.

On Sept. 5 at 5:46 p.m., police pulled over the 27-year-old driver and his 20-year-old passenger, of Flint, for crossing the center lane near the 1000 block of E. Maple Road. As the officer approached the silver Honda, the officer noted a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and the driver’s speech was slurred and his eyes bloodshot. The driver told police he had a few drinks. The passenger admitted to the officer that he had a 12 inch knife in the vehicle for protection.

Both men had misdemeanor warrants out for their arrests. The driver has two warrants out of the 70th district court for malicious destruction of property and the passenger had a warrant out of the 67th district court for trespassing.

GRAND BLANC TWP. — A Fort Wayne, Ind. man driving a stolen vehicle was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs.

At 3:55 a.m. on Sept. 5 near Hill Road and Dort Highway, police observed the 25-year-old make an illegal turn. Police stopped the 2011 green Mercury and found the vehicle to be stolen a Taylor resident’s. The driver agreed to a body search where the officer found an unlabeled and empty prescription bottle. The driver failed a roadside test and was placed in the back seat of the police cruiser where he kicked out the widow on the door. According to the police report, the driver failed to listen to verbal commands. Police removed the man from the police vehicle where the man said if they placed him back in the vehicle he would kick out another window. The Burton Police Department was called to transport the man to the Genesee County Jail as they had bars protecting their windows. Once at the station, a warrant was obtained to take the driver’s blood sample.

The driver was lodged at the county jail and is being cited for OUID, malicious destruction of police property and stealing a vehicle. Man found carrying brass knuckles

GRAND BLANC TWP. — A 22-year-old Flint man was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon on Sept. 5.

According to police reports, the man and his friend, a 19-year-old Swartz Creek man, were observed standing behind an SUV at a closed automobile shop in the 5300 block of Dort Highway at 1:48 a.m. The Swartz Creek man told police they were just out there smoking because his friend drove a Firebird and did not want smoke in his car. The men told the officer that they were going to go to Kicker’s Sports Bar and Grill, but said it was closed. The Flint man agreed to a body search where police found brass knuckles in his pocket. The Flint man told police he carries the black knuckles just in case he needs them because the way he looks makes him a target.
