She wants to rock

DETROIT — Katie Fuller wants you to vote for her.

The 21-year-old Lapeer East graduate, who now lives in Davison, has made it to the top 16 girls in the WRIF Rock Girl Contest.

Fuller, who said she has always loved rock music, is pursuing a degree from Mott Community College in broadcasting, so when she found out about the contest, she knew she had to enter.

The winner of the Rock Girl contest earns a scholarship to Specs Howard School of Broadcast and gets to work at the radio station for a year.

“This is my dream,” she said. “I really want to be a news anchor or work on the radio.”

Hundreds of girls tried out for the gig and through a series of interviews and online voting, Fuller has made it to the top 16.

She attributes her success so far to “my outgoing personality.”

Fuller will be on the Mike and the Morning show at 9 a.m. Friday, April 24. The girls will be cut down to eight finalists the following Monday, April 27.
